There have been a few major flashpoints throughout history that changed everything about how ideas are shared: the invention of writing, the printing press, broadcast media, the Internet. Each has contained within it a promise of making knowledge more accessible.

At Crash Course, we're committed to pursuing that ideal: sharing research about how the world works, telling stories of little-known history makers, and ultimately, making high-quality educational resources available to all.

This year's design represents our goal to share information that's accurate, nuanced, and accessible. Designer Dana Wagner worked these ideas into art, and the art was then minted on coins using hand-engraved dies by Shire Post Mint.
